String Hoppers with Harischandra White/Red String Hopper Flour

Description

An often served dish for both Breakfast and Dinner, String Hoppers is delicious when served with Kiri Hodi , Pol Sambola, Maalu Ambulthiyal or Chicken Curry.

What You Need

  • 400g Harischandra White/Red String Hopper Flour
  • String Hopper Maker
  • 2 – 3 cups warm water
  • Salt to taste

Method

Step 1: In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and water together.

Step 2: Mix it well and form a nice ball which doesn’t stick to your hands.

Step 3: Fill the string hopper maker with the dough, and squeeze it on the top of the small round steamer trays, and make a lace circle with the dough.

Step 4: Steam it for 5 – 10 minutes. If string hoppers are well cooked, you can just remove it from the steamer trays very easily.

Step 5: Repeat the process till the dough is finished.
